Zero Waste Resource Guide
To educate local decision makers of the potential Zero Waste Management has to reduce costs and protect our environment, ZWK has developed and distributed a Zero Waste Resource Guide to County Council members, County Administration and State and Federal Legislators.
Event Coordination
A major element of our project has been to promote waste reduction and diversion at public events, from birthday parties and weddings to the Kaua‘i County Fair. In partnership with the Kaua‘i County Office of Economic Development we have developed a powerpoint training presentation and worked with OED to require Zero Waste Management plans for all county sponsored events:
Zero Waste Event Manual
Zero Waste Kaua‘i has developed a set of fold-up mobile display boards, with text & graphics providing basic information on Zero Waste for use at public events and forums by request.

Recycling in Schools
Starting with an initial effort at Kalaheo Elementary 6 years ago, we have expanded our school outreach to include eight schools on Kauai.
Kaua‘i Community College
In 2009 ZWK initiated discussions with Chancellor Helen Cox and the College’s Sustainability Committee, developed a draft Zero Waste Management Plan for the College and assisted in the implementation of a number of short term diversion projects including developing a campus Recycling Guide, a KCC Zero Waste Event Planning Guide, and a student coordinated HI-5 recycling program.
